Pupil Power

In the Spring Term, we handed over control to our pupils by asking them to come up with ways to improve our school in our 'Pupil Power' competition. Children had to generate ideas to solve problems they had identified in the school and work on teams to devise a plan within their £2000 budget. Everyone worked really hard and the ideas were amazing. Each group then presented their idea to their class and a winner was chosen to go through to the final.

All the finalists presented their ideas to the whole school and our panel of judges: Mrs Harman - School Business Manager, Mrs Whitehurst - Head of Infant School, Ms Harrison - School Governor and Mr Churchyard - local Councillor. The children were quizzed on how their idea would help the school, how sustainable it was and how they could do it within their budget.

After much deliberation, the panel of judges finally decided on the winning idea from each Year Group - these lucky children won a trip to Thorpe Park (prize kindly donated by Thorpe Park)!! Two of the 4 winning ideas will be implemented and Mrs Harman is busily working on implementing these as soon as possible. The two ideas to be implemented were 'Go Green' (developing the use of our Environmental Area) and SmART Space (a dedicated art room).

The winners had a fantastic time at Thorpe Park and I'm sure they are excited about seeing the changes that their ideas will make to the school. Well done everyone!
