This Year Enterprise Week was 4th to 8th November 2013.
Enterprise Week Information Comments from the Children
Thank you to all the parents and visitors who came in to school to support us during Enterprise Week.
During Enterprise week all children took part in Enterprise Activities all week.
Each Year group had a programme or project to work on throughout the week.
All children also took part in workshops, run by parent volunteers, guest speakers or specialist providers.
In addition to their enterprise learning, opportunities to reinforce and develop other skills such as Maths and Literacy were maximised.
Enterprise is one of the school's four core values and, as such, is taught throughout the curriculum. Enterprise Week is an opportunity to focus on this value and allow the children to really develop their enterprise skills. The skills underpinning 'Enterprise' which the children will be working on are: leadership, decision making, teamwork, determination/ commitment, creativity/ ideas, problem solving/ challenge, risk taking/ resilience and communication.
Also part of our Enterprise work is Pupil Power.
The Crag Rats (who usually work on Enterprise Skills with Secondary School children) were so impressed with our Year 6 pupils that they emailed to congratulate them. They wrote: "The year 6 students did themselves proud with their innovation, creativity, and team work. We were particularly impressed with how they worked so efficiently and delegated tasks between themselves. The presentations were of a professional standard, and they should all be very proud to have stood up in front of their groups."
The Year 6 Enterprise Sale took place after school on Friday 29th November and was a great opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and stocking fillers as well as a few treats. All parents and members of the local community were invited to our Enterprise Sale.
Year 6 organised themselves brilliantly (with a little help from parents and teachers, here and there!)
to sell their enterprise products, which they had designed, made and marketed in the preceding weeks. We are
pleased to report that the children raised £900 on the day, all of which was profit.
They decided that
they would like to use this money to support Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Each class will sponsor one of three
puppies to be trained and the children will be able to follow their progress. 6SB will sponsor TRUFFLE; 6DP ROBIN
and 6RR HOLLY.
They will receive ‘pupdates’ and, from time to time, a Guide Dogs for the Blind representative will
pay a visit to school. The children will also receive a selection of goodies!
Congratulations to Year 6 and thanks you to their teachers and parents for supporting them so well.
Year 6 also had the opportunity to join an Enterprise Club later in the year - in conjunction with The Princes Trust 'Million Maker' scheme
