Science at Wheatfields

Curriculum Information

We believe that the best science teaching fosters and develops pupils’ curiosity in the subject whilst also helping them to fulfil their potential. For our pupils to achieve well in science, they need to acquire the necessary scientific knowledge and also be able to enjoy the experience of engaging and purposeful scientific enquiry in order to help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. In accordance with the National curriculum 2014 we aim to achieve this through developing the following skills over the key stage:

* Questioning

* Measuring

* Evaluating

* Observing

* Reporting

* Planning

* Recording

* Analysing Data

These skills are developed whilst studying topics associated with plants; animals including humans; living things and their habitats; materials; light and sound; forces and electricity. Five topics are studied per year.
